Building Machines.

Hey people it really has been ages since I've posted anything on this page. I have been so busy lately!! If this were paper, it would probably be coated with an inch thick of dust and disgusting material. If there's one thing I learnt from studying engineeering at Monash, it would be the course requires you to build hell lotta machines and contraptions!

This is the summary of the lab projects completed so far by Jon and I:
1. Build an Egg cart (least fun and most stressful!)
2. Build a egg landing platform
3. Design 2 experiments to determine coefficient of friction
4. Analyse the data from the 3rd experiment (3rd and 4th are paper work)
5. Build a Rube Goldberg Machine that consists of 5 different motions to turn off an alarm clock.
(Just completed yesterday/MOST tedious but FUN! and least stressful!)

And that was only for physics! There's another one for dynamics where I have to build a mechanical/electrical oscillator so that a pedometer (No! It's not a meter to measure how much of a pedophile are you. It's basically a meter to measure how many steps you take when it's put in your pocket) can read the amount of oscillations completed for 4 minutes.

If you are wondering what is a Rube Goldberg Machine, long story short:

[I will post a video soon.. The file that I have is a little corrupted]

The rules were to involve only 5 motions Simple Harmonic Motion, Rotational Motion, Rolling, Sliding and Free Falling. We couldn't repeat each motion, substract or add any other motions plus we weren't allowed to repeat any motions and must allow ONE object to experience ONE motion! It was hard work but I seriously enjoyed every single moment when the machine took shape. And so thus, the machine was named: ' I'd Rather Wait 20++secs For This Thing To Turn Off My Alarm Clock Cause I'm Too Lazy!' Machine' It's quite a mouthful, it was named that way just to piss my lecturer and tutor off.. XD I feel so proud of this creation.

Moving away from this topic, when I was attending a farewell/birthday party for my teacher, I had once again embarrassed myself in front of like a hundred people (this wasn't the first time, infact this is the 2nd..) yesterday when I sang 'You Raise Me Up' (impromptu performance!!) to my teacher for losing or being rather unlucky in a game.. Yea.. It was like Total Epic Humiliation to me!!! But at least I enjoyed myself, had some fun and was able to dedicate a song to my teacher.. I'll take it as a new experience! LoL! And.. Shin Li is leaving to UK soon to study Actural Science @ Warwick University.. T.T But at least I made her try a japanese dish called Sukiyaki before leaving and she liked it!!! Okay! Time to put my engineering /equation writing skills to the test!!

YIP SHIN LI = I'LL MISS YOU^∞ =)

Let's eat SUKIYAKI again @ ZANMAI when you come back in a years time kay?? =)

The Machine's name! XD Cool right?

The complete prototype..
